To mark the occasion of The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, 2012 was the year in which the world celebrated the first real diamond attached to a British stamp. Although the stamps within the Souvenir Miniature Sheets are separate, the sheets of four stamps present the two se-tenant pairs in all their glory. The portraits were specifically chosen so that HM The Queen and King George VI would be facing each other. It is well documented that the family was close and this tender composition suggests a daughter’s love and respect for her father. The stamps feature serene portraits of both Queen Elizabeth II and her beloved father, King George VI.
