Popular Culture - The 1990s - Miniature Sheet

£3.00

The miniature sheet offers an artistic representation of one of Jersey's main shopping areas in the 1990s, reflecting the vibrancy, fashion and colours synonymous with the decade. The 1990s saw King Street and Queen Street, Jersey's main shopping streets, become pedestrianised. The shop fronts are a representation of the types of shops that would have existed on King Street and Queen Street at the time.

Additional Information

Jersey, while only being a small island in the English Channel, continued its march towards the global status the Island now holds in the financial world. As air fares to destinations such as Spain and Turkey became less expensive, Jersey’s tourism and agriculture sectors shrank, and moved away from the post-war tourism boom. Jersey’s financial sector continued to grow exponentially, with the creation of the Jersey Financial Services Commission and the Channel Islands Stock Exchange in 1998.
