This stamp sheet depicts British Formula One World Champion Jenson Button. The son of a successful rallycross driver, Jenson Button spent a few years racing for various teams before winning his first Grand Prix in Hungary in 2006 driving for Honda, his 113th start. The team was bought by Ross Brawn and Button incredibly won the first seven races of 2009 in addition to consistently high finishes throughout the rest of the season to take the World Title.

Formula One is the highest class of international auto racing for single-seater formula racing cars sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile. Originally called Formula A, the first race to approved Formula One rules was a Grand Prix race held at Valentino Park, Turin, Italy, in 1946. In celebration of the Formula One World Championships, we have issued a total of 10 stamps, over a two-part series featuring ten of the top British Formula One champions.
Part One is made up of five stamps, a miniature sheet and a souvenir sheetlet showcasing five British world champions. The five stamps feature Mike Hawthorn, Jim Clark, Jackie Stewart, Damon Hill and Jenson Button. The miniature sheet features James Hunt.
