70 Years of EUROPA

This year, Jersey Stamps will be celebrating 70 Years of EUROPA. Available from 8th May 2026, the issue includes a set of two stamps, one of which was designed by Klaus Welp and features the iconic EUROPA logo, while the second design was created in-house by Jersey Post.

The EUROPA project has united postal administration through collaborative themes throughout the decades focused on milestone occasions, heritage, culture and wildlife. Members of the EUROPA initiative include 53 participating postal organisations (including Jersey), who are given a theme each year to focus on. For example, in 2024 the chosen theme was ‘Underwater Fauna and Flora’, while 2025’s focus was ‘Archaeological Discoveries’.

Klaus’ design features a diagonally ascending dotted line symbolising stamp perforations and the progress of European cooperation. Seven connected dots represent seventy years of unity among postal operators. A blended background of colours inspired by the European flag reflects shared identity, diversity, and optimism across Europe.

The second stamp was conceived as a direct response to the supplied design, intended to complement it closely. The halftone dots became the central focus of the design, featuring prominently in the depiction of the Jersey flag on the stamp as well as in the wider map of Europe used within the supporting decorative asset.

The issue is available to purchase online at www.jerseystamps.com and from local post offices, including Broad Street and Rue Des Pres. This set includes two stamps, a souvenir miniature sheet, first day covers and a set of presentation packs.
