EU Custom Changes
June 26, 2026
Statement from Jersey Post
The EU is making changes to customs duties on low value goods being sent to Europe. From 1 July 2026, goods worth less than €150 will no longer be free from customs duty and a fee of €3 will be charged per item.
The recipient will be asked to pay the fee by the relevant postal service upon delivery in Europe, with the exception of Austria and Denmark. To reduce delays and confusion for both the sender and recipient, Jersey Post have suspended the posting of goods to these countries until customers can pay the duties up front.
Jersey Post is developing a solution to allow this, but it is not possible to meet the timescales imposed by the EU. Sending of goods to Germany will be suspended from 24th August as they will no longer collect payment on delivery from 31 August.
From November 2026 further EU changes will come into effect, and we will need to charge duties and fees up front before sending an item.
We are actively working with industry experts and our partners to ensure that we are able to provide the most up to date information and relevant guidance.

How this will effect stamp orders
The changes recently implemented by the EU as described above on how VAT, custom duties, and customs processing fees are applied to goods entering EU countries. While EU countries continue to implement these changes, Jersey Post Philatelic Bureau will continue to dispatch orders to all EU destinations, with the exception of Denmark and Austria.
Please note that any customs duties, VAT, handling fees, or other import-related charges will be payable by the recipient when the order arrives in the destination country.
