Jersey’s Pollinators Bees celebrating the island's local pollinators
February 23, 2026
Issued on Thursday 26th February 2026, Jersey Post’s Philatelic team have collaborated with local photographer Glen Perotte to create the wonderful Jersey’s Pollinators: Bees stamp issue. The purpose of this issue is to highlight the microscopic world of bees and the fantastic work they do as pollinators.
Jersey has over 149 bee species and due to Glen’s wonderful work with Jersey Honey, the predominate bees photographed in this series are the honeybees, which Jersey Honey and local beekeepers carefully maintain to give the native bees a chance to thrive. Also, photographed are the beloved bumble bees that often make an appearance in gardens around the island during March to October.
Jersey’s Pollinators: Bees includes six stamps and a miniature sheet, which features an amazing image of a Queen Bee, which you can learn more about within the issue’s first day cover and presentation pack.
To capture all the intricate details such as the plant’s trichomes (hair), Glen used a microphotography technique, which involves attaching a microscope lens to his high-resolution digital camera, using transmitted and reflected lighting and taking a large volume of shots which Glen then blended using cutting edge software during the editing process.

With around 80% of the world’s crops depending on animal and insects’ pollinators to thrive, this stamp set offers a microscopic glance into how bees have adapted and evolved to become the extraordinary pollinators they are known for both in Jersey and the rest of the world.
This issue’s stamp is available to purchase online or within any Jersey Post office and a miniature sheet, first day covers and presentation packs, which you can purchase at Rue Des Pres or Broad Street and online.
