Native Island Wildlife
September 3, 2026
Issued Tuesday 1st September 2026 Native Island Wildlife celebrates Jersey’s rich variety of biodiversity. The island’s coastland, woodlands, and wetlands make for an excellent habitat to various species, including the Agile Frog, Green Lizard, Grass Snake, Atlantic Puffin, Marsh Harrier, and Red Squirrel.
Jersey Post’s Philatelic Design & Production Manager Holly Gilbert used a complimentary colour pallet throughout the set and framed each species within an outline of the island. Each stamp has various footprints that have been included to further help differentiate each one.
The supporting products in the issue features interesting facts about each species, including the green lizard. Jersey is the only placed within the British Isles where this particular lizard resides. Mostly found within the maritime heathlands and sand dunes, their shy nature makes them difficult to find but when out they are easily distinguishable due to the distinctive green colour.
Special thanks to National Trust Jersey, who are also celebrating their 90th anniversary this year. Their team were incredibly helpful in supplying details about each species, which can be read about in the sets supporting products.
The issue’s full philatelic range can be purchased at Jersey Post’s Headquarters at Rue des Pres and within the philatelic section in Broad Street’s Post Office. You can also purchase the set by visiting www.jerseystamps.com or calling the Jersey Stamps team on 01534 616 717.
