New Post & Go stamps to feature Jersey Seafood
January 28, 2022
Six types of Jersey seafood will feature on a new set of Post & Go stamps, Harvest of the Sea, to be issued by Jersey Post on 17 February 2022.
The Island of Jersey enjoys access to a wide range of seafood found in its surrounding waters, often Atlantic in origin, fresh-caught each day and supplied to the local fish markets and eateries. Local fishers often adopt sustainable catching methods such as traditional potting methods for the lobster and hand diving for scallops.
These six stunning Post & Go stamps are designed by local artist Ron Mills and depict Lobster, Mackerel, Scallops, Turbot, Spider Crab and Jersey Oysters in a colourful modern illustration style.
Ron Mills comments 'As a designer and illustrator, it has always been my ambition to design a set of stamps. I work in various artistic styles, so I thought a splashy watercolour look would best represent the watery nature of the subject matter.'
Post & Go stamps are self-adhesive stamp labels with the postage printed on demand. They can be bought either as single stamps or in strips of six. The stamps strips are printed at the Broad Street post office’s B002 machine and are displayed on a clear strip.
Jersey Post’s Harvest of the Sea Post & Go stamps and philatelic stamp products such as First Day Covers and Presentation Packs will be available from the Jersey post offices at Broad Street, St Helier and Rue Des Pres, St Saviour on issue day. All items can be ordered now www.jerseystamps.com or by telephoning the Jersey Philatelic Bureau on: +44 (0)1534 616717.
